The spring 2014 concerts of Chicago Master Singers, under the direction of Alan Heatherington, will bring sacred masterpieces of Slovenian, Croatian, Austrian, and American composers to Chicago area audiences on the evenings of Friday, April 25, and Sunday, April 27, in Techny (Northbrook), IL. The a cappella concert will feature the same repertoire that Chicago Master Singers will take on tour this summer to Slovenia, Croatia, and Austria, where members of the chorus will also sing in the finale concert of the Mozart Choral Festival in Salzburg.
Music by Slovenian composer Jakob Kranjski (Jacobus Gallus) will be featured on the program, drawing from this country’s extensive musical heritage which offers a trove of creative treasures. The concert will also include works by Croatian composers Bruno Vlahek and Ivan Lukačić, American choral composers Ola Gjeilo, Stephen Paulus, Morten Lauridsen, Mischa Zupko and Wayland Rogers, as well as classic masterpieces by Austrian composers Anton Bruckner and Michael Haydn.
The concert venue is the beautiful and reverberant Chapel of the Holy Spirit (Divine Word) at 2001 Waukegan Road, in Techny.
